Frozen's Elsa Inspired Tutorial

I saw Frozen a few weeks ago (and loved it!) and decided that I would have a go at recreating Elsa's makeup :)
I used:
  • Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation
  • Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
  • Rimmel Stay Matte Powder
  • Collection Shimmer Shades
  • MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter
  • MUA Immaculate Collection Palette (Shades 9&13)
  • Rimmel Glam Eyes Liquid Liner
  • Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Mascara
  • By the Face Lipstick in Shades 15

Apply whatever base makeup you normally use; foundation, concealer, powder, etc.

Next apply some blusher, then above that, a little bit of highlighter.

For the eyes, start by applying the pale purple colour all over the lid.

Apply the darker purple eye shadow to the crease and then blend it out...

Using your liquid liner, line your upper lash line, and waterline

Next apply your mascara. You can be fairly liberal with it, especially on the outer lashes; Elsa in the film has ridiculously long eyelashes

.... And finish by applying your lipstick :)

Makeup of the Day |8/2/14 & Wet n Wild

I had planned to do something more elaborate for todays post, but unfortunately the sun was conspiring against me, and it was impossible to take photographs.

 Products used:
  • Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation
  • Collection Concealer
  • Rimmel Stay Matte Powder
  • Collection Shimmer Shades (I dropped them last week, so they're looking a bit the worst for wear)
  • MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter
  • MUA Undressed Palette (shades 7 and 8)
  • Rimmel Glam Eyes Eyeliner
  • Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Mascara
  • Elizabeth Arden lipstick in 'Cassis'

My other bit of news is that, if you're in Ireland,  I discovered while out shopping today that they now stock Wet n Wild in Dunnes Stores. For those of you who don't know, Wet n Wild is a high-street brand famed for their eyeshadow palettes that gets a lot of hype on Youtube, and was hitherto only available in America. The Dunnes I was in didn't have the best selection, they were out of a lot of things, but I'm sure they'll get more in, and I'll also scope out some of their other branches in the next while. There may be a Wet 'n' Wild haul up in the next few weeks.

Elizabeth Arden Red Hot Croc Unboxing

Hi everyone,
During the January sales I decided to by the Elizabeth Arden Red Hot Croc Colour Collection. It's one of those gift sets that companies bring out for Christmas; a bag that contains a lot of different Elizabeth Arden products, that if you were to buy them all individually, would cost a lot of money (I've heard everything from 200 to 300 euros, but I'm not bothered to go and price everything ). Anyway, I thought I'd show you what came in the bag, in case you can still get a hold of one, or just want to see photographs and swatches of the products. Also, I'm hoping to review a lot of these things in the future.

*Quick sidenote; while I love the packaging of Elizabeth Arden products, they are quite awkward to photograph because they reflect either a) the sun or b) the camera, so sorry about that.*

January Favourites

Hi everyone,
I can't believe that it's time for another monthly favourites, this year is going so fast already! This month (or last month I suppose) I've been really focusing on just trying to use up things that I already have, so as a result I don't actually have that many makeup favourites to tell you about, which is unusual for me. I do however have a few other things that I've liked which I'll show you now.

MUA Red Lipstick

I've gone on about this lipstick so much on this blog already, I don't want to bore you with more, so all I'll say is this; I've never finished a lipstick before, but I think this is going to be the one. It's just a really nice, wearable red colour, and I've worn it so much, particularly this month.

Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Mascara
This is the only new makeup thing I've tried this month. I'm going to do a full review of this at some stage, so I don't want to say to much about it, except that it's a really good lengthening mascara, and I really like it so far (obviously, because I'm putting it in a favourites post.)

Essence Pro White Hardener
I  have extremely brittle nails and like to wear nail varnish a lot, which is not a good combination at all. There's been times in the past when, after wearing nail varnish it's taken my nails about a month to recover. However, in the last while I've started using a nail cream and this as my base coat, and I've noticed a dramatic improvement in my nails. I'd really recommend this.

NYC Nail Varnish in 'Prince Street'

Sticking with the nail varnish theme, I got this for Christmas, and really like colour. The photo doesn't really do it justice, but there's little bits of glitter in it, and it has a kind of metallic sheen to it. It lasted quite well too, I think it lasted about four or five days before chipping. It's not the best nail varnish to ever exist, but it was nice and I liked it.

Taylor by Taylor Swift Perfume

I was on the market for a new perfume when I found this in the Christmas sales. I'm not even going to attempt to try and explain the scent to you because I'll just end up talking crap, but it's just a really nice, sweet everyday perfume. And the bottle is so pretty!

Argan Oil
I'm a very late-comer to the whole Argan oil/Moroccan oil trend. I got this as a Christmas present, and started putting it in my hair after every couple of washes, and I have to admit it does work really well; it makes my hair really soft. Also it smells like Terry's Chocolate Orange, which is always a plus. I think you can get this particular one from Penneys.

Penneys Statement Necklace
I really like statement necklaces, and had had my eye on this one from Penneys for awhile. I wear a lot of plain jumpers and tops and I think just adds something to an outfit. I also really like the purple/maroon colour for autumn and winter.

Penneys Wishbone Necklace and Earrings

My other jewellery favourite for the month is this set from Penneys. In complete contrast to the other necklace it's absolutely tiny, and it's just a really nice subtle, simple addition to an outfit. Also I've been trying to wear earrings more this month, and having a pair I really liked helped. These sets are still in some shops as far as I know, and there are a couple of different ones, in gold and silver (a star, the infinity sign, a horseshoe and a couple of other ones that I can't remember). Also, they only cost 3.

Review: Max Factor Colour Elixir Lipstick in 'Mulberry'

As some of you might know, I got this lipstick a few months ago when I was in Belfast, and it is the only Max Factor product that I own. I've only really started using it lately, and I like it a lot; it's a really nice berry colour for autumn and winter, and I think that it would suit a lot of skin tones. The lipstick is quite moisturising (always a big thing for me, because I have dry lips) and relatively sheer . It also has a really unusual sort of metallic sheen to it that isn't really showing up in the pictures. I think the best feature of this lipstick is how long it lasts, it reminds me of a stain. I literally wore it all day, and had to touch it up once.
The lipstick costs about 11, which in my opinion is a bit overpriced. It's a nice lipstick, but you can get similar things from MUA or the Natural Collection for much less money; and it just isn't as good some of my favourites, like Revlon or Mac, when I can justify the price.
But if that's not a problem for you, or there's an offer on (I got mine on an offer, in case you were wondering); or you're just on the market for a very long lasting lipstick, then by all means go for it! :)

New Hair + Info

Hi everyone,
I meant to do this post like a month ago, but then I got sick and side-tracked and now here we are. As you may have noticed in some of my pictures from other posts, I've changed my hair a bit and I thought that I would just tell you a little bit about what I changed and how it's working out for me, now that I've had it for a little while.
Before

After

The first change I made is that, after a few years of having long layers, I decided I wanted to start growing them out. I've heard so much about the horrors of trying to grow out layered hair, but I'm really not finding it bad at all. I got about three/four inches cut off to help the process along a bit, and I think by my next haircut they should be completely gone. I do however only get my hair cut every six months or so, and have hair that grows quite fast.
Secondly, I got a side fringe. I've never had any kind of fringe before, so was quite unsure about whether or not to take the plunge, and whether or not to it would be difficult to manage. It's actually not at all; I haven't had to change my hair routine at all, other than having to straighten my fringe because I have naturally wavy hair, but that takes less than five minutes.
So the moral of this story is that if you're debating about changing your hair, I'd encourage you to go for it; sometimes the stories aren't true, and anyway, it'll always grow back :)
