As the title suggests, this is post is going to be about my
September Favourites, i.e. makeup products that I’ve liked and used a lot
during the month of September. In the
last while, I’ve come to the realisation that I probably have a bit too much makeup,
more than one person actually needs. So this month (or last month actually,
because it’s the start of October now)instead of buying new things I’ve been
trying to ‘shop my stash’ a bit; to go through my makeup collection and use
things that I bought in the past, but have neglected recently. It’s been going pretty well, and a lot of the
things I’ve been using have made it into my favourites, along with some more
recent discoveries.
So without further ado, here are my September favourites:
Rimmel Glam Eyes Professional Liquid Liner
For some reason I very rarely wear liquid eyeliner during
the summer, I always think of it as more of a winter thing. Now that the
weather is starting to get colder though, I’ve gone back to using it a lot
more. For the past few months I’ve been using this Rimmel one, and I really
like it. It’s very black, and stays on all day without fading or smudging. It
does have a brush applicator though, so if you’ve just started getting into
liquid liner, or don’t have a very steady hand, I’d recommend trying one with a
sponge applicator, as it makes it much easier to get a straight line.
MUA Immaculate Collection Eye Shadow Palette
This was one of the very first makeup items that I bought
myself on a trip to London almost two years ago. After neglecting it for the last
while, I rooted it out this month and started using it again. The palette has a
nice range of bright and neutral colours, and all the shadows are really
pigmented and quite long-lasting. I’ve
particularly enjoyed using shade 9 (second row, first from left) a matte
lavender colour, shade 11 (second row, third from left) a sparkly silver, shade
12 (second row, fourth from left) a glittery light brown colour that I’ve
almost run out of, and shade 18 (third row, seond from the left) a shiny light
gold.
Unfortunately this palette isn’t available anymore, but a
lot of the current MUA palettes have similar shades in them.
Essence Me and My Ice Cream Eye Shadow in 03 ‘Always in my
Mint’
In the pan, this eye shadow looks amazing, with bits of blue,
pink and mint green running through it. Sadly, when applied the colour isn’t as
fantastic (it’s a sort of shimmery silver/white) but still quite nice, and has
very good lasting power.
The Me and My Ice Cream Collection came out over the summer,
but as far as I know it is still available in certain shops (I feel like every
shop I go into that stocks Essence has a different collection.)
By the Face Nail Varnish in No. 31 and 32
I picked these two nail varnishes up while in Mallorca over
the summer, and was really impressed with the quality of them. As far as I
remember they were very cheap, but have very good staying power. They last at
least a week without chipping on me and I’m someone who constantly chips her
nail varnish.
I had never heard of the brand By the Face before, but from
their website I think they’re a Spanish brand. Unfortunately I can’t read
Spanish, so I don’t know if they’re available in other countries, but if you’re
going to be in Spain or Mallorca over the next while, I would recommend getting
some.
Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipstick in 175 ‘Pink
Punch’
Much like the MUA palette, this was one of the first
lipsticks I ever bought (I think I may have bought them at the same time
actually) but hadn’t really used it much for the last while. I went back to it
at the beginning of the month, and literally wore it almost every day. What I
really like about this lipstick is how versatile it is; you can just apply
small amount and have a little bit of colour, or go all out and have a really
bright pink lip.
It’s also very long-lasting, almost like a lip stain. After
a couple of hours of wearing it, the glossiness of the lipstick fades, but it still
leaves some colour. Some people might not like this, but it’s really useful if
you don’t have time to constantly touch up your lipstick.
